Discovery Montessori School was founded in 1990 and offers a variety of Montessori programs, from toddler classes to fifth grade. Located in Jacksonville Beach Florida, Discovery Montessori is a nonprofit private school offering individualized instruction that balances intellectual stimulation and emotional development. Discovery has full affiliation with the American Montessori Society and is accredited by the Florida Kindergarten Council. Children are accepted regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin.
Montessori educational programs are based upon the discoveries of Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and one of the first advocates of early childhood education. The basic tenets of her approach have been validated by the new research on the developing brain.
Children of all ages show a keen interest in reading, math, geography, science, and practical life since they work in a noncompetitive, calm atmosphere with materials designed to stimulate their natural curiosity.

Discovery Montessori School is a Member of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida and a consortium member of ISM.
Discovery Montessori School is the recipient of the United States Green Building Council, North Florida Chapter, Innovation Award for Solving the Ultimate Challenge. This award was in recognition of Discovery's holistic approach to helping the environment through education of its students in environmental stewardship. Discovery's new Multipurpose Building, which will house library facilities, computer labs, and classrooms, has been designed and will be built to USGBC'S LEED for Schools Green Building Rating standards.
